01 Blow-In Attic Insulation

In most cases, new blow-in insulation can be installed directly over your existing insulation. We add enough new insulation to provide the proper coverage and significantly improve the overall insulation level throughout your attic.

If we discover mold or other conditions that make the existing insulation unsuitable, we may recommend completely removing the old insulation first. Once the attic is cleared, it can be properly sealed before installing fresh insulation.

Our installation process is simple and efficient. One technician stays at the truck feeding insulation into the blowing machine, while another works inside the attic, carefully moving along the trusses and blowing insulation throughout the space. We make sure to reach the corners, edges, and hard-to-access areas for consistent coverage.

The process is generally clean and minimally disruptive to your home. When we're finished, we clean up behind ourselves and leave your property the way we found it—only better insulated.

02 Rolled Batt Insulation

Rolled batt insulation is typically installed before drywall goes up, making it an ideal choice for new construction, additions, and remodeling projects where the walls or ceilings are still open.

For wall applications, we generally install R-19 x 15-inch batt insulation between the wall studs, creating consistent coverage throughout the open wall cavities. For ceilings, we typically install R-38 x 24-inch batts between the trusses, carefully fitting the insulation throughout the space.

Our goal is a clean, consistent installation with proper coverage from one section to the next, so your insulation is in place and ready before the drywall is installed.

03 Insulation Removal

Whether you're dealing with mold, preparing for a remodel, or simply want to start fresh with new insulation, Active Shield Insulation can completely remove the existing insulation from your attic.

Our removal process is designed to keep the job contained and your home as clean as possible. One technician works inside the attic using specialized insulation-removal equipment, while the rest of the crew works below to make sure the old insulation is collected directly into large, heavy-duty disposal bags.

Once the attic is cleared, the bagged insulation is placed into a commercial dumpster that we provide and hauled away when the job is complete. From there, your attic is ready for any necessary air sealing, remodeling, or installation of fresh blow-in insulation.

04 Air Sealing

Before installing new blow-in insulation, we inspect the attic for minor air leaks and penetrations. When we find small areas that need attention, we seal them at no additional charge as part of the installation.

When we're performing a complete insulation removal and replacement, we take the process further. Once the old insulation is removed and the attic floor is exposed, we thoroughly air seal accessible gaps and penetrations using low-expansion spray foam and high-temperature caulk where appropriate.

After the sealing is complete, we install fresh blow-in insulation throughout the attic, giving your home a cleaner, more complete insulation system from the attic floor up.

05 Garage Attic & Wall Insulation

Many garages in Arizona are built with little to no insulation, helping builders keep construction costs down. If you spend time in your garage, use it as a workshop or home gym, or have installed a mini-split system, adding insulation can make a major difference in comfort.

We can install blow-in insulation in the garage attic and, when needed, insulate existing garage walls. For finished walls, we drill approximately 2½-inch round openings near the top of the drywall between each wall stud, then blow insulation down into each cavity for consistent coverage.

We can also insulate interior walls when additional sound reduction is desired, such as between bedrooms, offices, garages, or other living spaces.

For existing finished walls, Active Shield Insulation does not repair or patch the 2½-inch access holes after installation. Drywall repair and finishing are the customer's responsibility.

How do I know if my home is under-insulated?

There are a number of sure signs. Does your air conditioning unit run constantly? Does your power bill fluctuate dramatically through the seasons? Does your ceiling feel warm in summer and cold in winter? These all point to insufficient insulation.

How far in advance should I schedule my service?

We like at least three days’ notice, but during busy season (early and mid-summer) we recommend giving us as much notice as possible so we can get you on the schedule.

How long does the service appointment take?

This depends on ease of access and the amount of insulation being installed. Most installations take anywhere from 1–3 hours.

How long does insulation last?

Fiberglass insulation can last up to 100 years when properly installed. However, according to Angi, any insulation that is more than 10 years old may be out of sync with the latest recommendations from the U.S. Department of Energy.
